Popcorn Balls

We have all been there. It’s 9pm, the kids are finally to bed, dishes are done and your ready to put up your feet and watch a good Netflix episode. Then you remember…you signed up to bring snacks tomorrow. Do you stop at the store in the morning and buy the day old cookies? Donuts anyone? Yikes! You frantically search your pantry for something…anything…that you can throw together and still pass Pinterest standards. Well here is the answer….Popcorn balls.

This EASY snack/ dessert is always a winner and only takes 3 ingredients:

Butter, microwave popcorn & marshmallows

Butter, microwave popcorn & marshmallows

Directions:

  • Pop the popcorn in the microwave and then poor into a good size bowl (I also pick out all the kernels so no one breaks a tooth)
  • While the popcorn is popping, melt 1/4 cup of butter in a sauce pan
  • The mixture is brown from adding vanilla
  • When the butter is melted (don’t let it burn!) add in a cup of marshmallows and stir until melted
    • For added taste you can add a little vanilla and a dash of salt
  • Pour the butter/marshmallow gooeyness over the popcorn and mix together
  • Generously butter your hands and form into popcorn balls

One bag of popcorn makes about 8 fist size balls or 12 smaller ones. chocolate!

There are so many ways you can dress up this dessert: drizzle some dark and white chocolate, add M&M’s or sprinkles. Put toothpicks in each one to help avoid sticky fingers and tie a little bow on top.

And voila your tasty popcorn balls are the hit of the party and you’re sure to be invited back next time 🙂
